Marjorie Ann (Newkirk) Mortenson
March 10, 1938 ~ August 31, 2023 (age 85) 85 Years Old
Marjorie Ann Mortenson, age 85, of California, MO, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Valley Park Retirement Center in California.
Marjorie was born March 10, 1938, in Tipton, MO, the daughter of George Milton and Ethel Irene (Embry) Newkirk, who preceded her in death.
Marjorie married Richard Harold Mortenson on August 1, 1956, in Tipton. They bought a farm southeast of Tipton, raising their 3 sons Richard Allan, Michael Wayne & Mark Randal. In the early seventies, Marjorie and Richard opened Mortenson's True Value Hardware Store in Tipton where they worked side-by-side for over 30 years. During the latter years Marjorie managed and ran the store herself while Richard built houses.
Marjorie was a devoted Christian and a member of the Jamestown Assembly of God Church in Jamestown, MO. She believed Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior and prayed for her family and friends daily,
Survivors include her three sons, Allan Mortenson (Ronda), Michael Mortenson (Lisa), and Randy Mortenson (Connie); her brother, Jerry Newkirk; her sister, Jean Stahl(William), six grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Emma Mortenson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home, Tipton, MO with Pastor Ryan Mortenson, officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m until service time at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Moreau Cemetery, Tipton, MO.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Jamestown Assembly of God Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
