Jeannie Coons

Carol Joyce “Jeannie” Coons, 82, of Tipton, MO, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022, at her home.

She was born December 31, 1939, in Hillsboro, OR, daughter of Louis A. and Clara A. (Lee) Monchamp.

On November 29, 1960, in Ayer, MA, she married Donald R. Coons, who preceded her in death on September 2, 2013.

Jeannie was a U.S. Army veteran, serving two years. She worked as a clerk at the license bureau, in a variety store, and managed apartment complexes. She was proud to have run a horse-riding academy on the beach of Long Beach, WA, as a young lady and got to visit her barn one last time in September.

She enjoyed raising horses and dogs, reading, and traveling with her husband and grandkids. She was a loving person and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen Thomas, of Syracuse, and Sandra J. Caton (Dennis Nelson); seven grandchildren, Matthew Coons (Ashley), Brittany Doyel (Dustin), Jamie Melsness, Jaycie Crumley, Lorn Thomas (Christina), Jordan Nelson and Donovan Nelson; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kathi Disedare, of Meeker, OK.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dana Lee Townzen and Michelle Saybo; and son-in-law, David Thomas.

A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring at Latham Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Tipton.
