Diana L. Long

Diana Lea Long, 71, of Pilot Grove, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Ashley Manor in Boonville.

She was born March 11, 1952, in Kansas City, daughter of James Ray Smith and Harlean Helsley Smith.

On September 23, 1985, she married Carl Long, who preceded her in death on February 7, 2018.

Diana worked for Southwestern Bell as a troubleshooter. After retiring, she worked at Pilot Grove School as a cook until her health failed.

She loved kids and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She enjoyed flower gardening and birdwatching. Diana will be remembered as selfless, caring, soft spoken and helpful.

Surviving are two daughters, Amy Williams (Jordan), of Bunceton, and Cynthia Long, of Pilot Grove; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Denise Petree; and brother, Daniel Smith.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David Smith and Derek Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2023, at Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Pilot Grove. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Pleasant Green Cemetery.
