Della F (Chambers) Huff
December 23, 1925 ~ November 15, 2023 (age 97) 97 Years Old
Della F. Huff of Tipton, MO passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at California Care Center.
She was born December 23, 1925, in Akinsville, MO to John M. and Velma (Vaught) Chambers, who preceded her in death.
Della attended all twelve years at Tipton Public School. She worked in the office of Oberman & Co. after graduating. She also worked for a local attorney, Frank J. Quigley.
On April 6, 1946, she was united in marriage to Thornton E. Huff, who passed away April 9, 1979.
Della was involved in several organizations. She served in the Tipton Women’s Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Donley Extension Club, Pitch Club, Moniteau County Historical Society, Moniteau County Republican Club, American Cancer Society, and Friends of the Maclay Home. Della had a radio program on Moniteau County history for thirteen years. She also edited seven books for the Historical Society. She was an avid Kansas City Royals fan.
Della was a member of Tipton Community Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School secretary and church clerk. She edited the church’s monthly newsletter since 1983, and taught Sunday School and Bible School for over forty years.
Della is survived by her son, James T. Huff (Jerene) of Tipton; son-in-law, Gary Battles; five grandchildren, Jacqueline Hair (B.J.) of Kansas City, MO, Jennifer Steward (Todd) of Centerview, MO, Rodney Battles of Tipton, MO, John Huff (Bryan) of Portland, OR, and Justin Huff (Emma) of California, MO; nine great-grandchildren, Ella, Audra, Kinsley, Delayna, Emma, Brock, Gabby, Pricilla, and Auggie; and one great great-grandchild, Adalee.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Kay Battles.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home, Tipton, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, November 20, 2023, at Tipton Community Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Elliott, officiating.
Burial will follow at Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Battles, John Huff, Justin Huff, B.J. Hair, Todd Steward, and Gary Battles.
Memorial Contributions are suggested to Tipton Community Baptist Church or Friends of the Maclay Home.
