William James (Bill) Hutchison

William James “Bill” Hutchison, 84, of Kansas City and Tipton, MO joined his Heavenly Father on July 10, 2018 at Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by loved ones. He was the first born to Warren Buskirk and Veda “McKee” Hutchison near Latham, MO.

Bill was a member of First Christian Church, Tipton and enjoyed serving his church and community. He graduated from Tipton High School, where his pitching led the school to many softball championships. He was an active member of Plumbers Local 8 of Kansas City until 1977, when he began work for the MO dept. of Correction, TCC Maintenance, retiring in Dec. 1995.

He was well-known for his pitching and was inducted into the State Fair Fast-Pitch Hall of Fame in 1987. In his youth he was avid about quail hunting, bird-dogs and horses. In retirement he enjoyed card playing, fishing, gardening and most of all spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Melva Fern “Allee” Hutchison; infant daughter Shelley Ann; great-granddaughter Eisley Willow Steele; a step-son and 2 step-granddaughters.

He is survived by wife Vera Buell of Kansas City; daughters Connie (Roger) Jaeger of Ashland, MO and Vickie (Tim) Dunham of Otterville, MO; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sister Willene Kasper of Tipton; brother Warren Hutchison of Paola, KS; step-children Shirley (Randy) Jones, Pam Wallenburn, Steve (Diane) Watring, Kenneth Watring, Karen Pener, Nancy Kimrey (Jim Barrows), Greg (Kim) Rice and numerous step-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors at Frist Christian Church of Tipton on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with services at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery.

The family suggest memorial donations to the Kansas City Hospice House, First Christian Church of Tipton, or a charity of the donors’ choice.
