Walter John Theroff

March 2, 1912 — September 22, 2007

Walter J. Theroff, age 95, of Russellville, passed away, Saturday, September 22, 2007, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
He was born March 2, 1912, in rural Cole County, near Lohman, a son of Andrew and Leona Bates Theroff. On October 14, 1936, he married Alma M. Lehman in Jefferson City. She preceded him in death October 7, 2004.
He worked construction with Arthur Jungmeyer, building many of the homes in the Russellville community. He later worked at McKay Buick and Capital Reserve Insurance Company. Both located in Jefferson City.
He was a member of the Russellville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting all kinds of animals and mushrooms, fishing, and listening to the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games.
He is survived by one son, Norman Theroff of Russellville; one daughter, Darlene Schubert of Russellville; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Lehman of Russellville; four grandchildren,Mona Porter and husband Travis, Mike, Trevor and Heather Theroff, two step-grandchildren, Danny Cooley,and Donna Greenslit and husband Ed, two great grandchildren, Jamie and Anna, four great step-grandchildren, Shari, Zachary, Alexis and Grace, also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Norma Jean Theroff, a son-in-law, David Schubert, four brothers, Otto Theroff, Herbert Theroff, Raymond Theroff, and August Theroff and two sisters, Anna Hirschvogel and Hilda Lehman.
Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, September 25, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville. Interment will be in the Enloe Cemetery west of Russellville.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Monday, September 24, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Enloe Cemetery or the Russellville United Methodist Church.
