Virginia I. “Ginger” White, age 66, of Stover, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 20, 2018, during a hunting trip to New Mexico with her husband.
She was born January 22, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Lawrence Katz and Vera Farmer. Ginger was united in marriage to Lyle White on October 20, 1972, in Kansas City and he survives at their home.
She was a graduate of East High School in Kansas City.
Ginger’s green thumb was put to good use in the garden department of the Walmart in Lee’s Summit, where she retired as supervisor.
When her son was in school she was active in the PTA. She was also active in VFW Post 1000 in Independence, where she a member of the “Cooties” holding the position of Momma Clown for two terms.
Ginger loved going to the shows in Branson and Silver Dollar City. She was a fan of Paul Revere and the Raiders and Elvis. In her spare time she looked forward to spending time working in her garden and tending to her house plants.
In 2015 Lyle and Ginger purchased a home in Stover, making it their permanent residence in 2016.
In addition to her husband of 46 years, she is survived by six sisters, Carlene Melton of St. Charles; Rusty Jones of Pleasant Hope; Dorothy Thompson of Stover; Carla Duff of Pleasant Hope; Pam Kelly of Pleasant Hope and Vanessa White of Kansas City; three grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ginger was preceded in death by her son, Jon White on October 4, 2017, her parents, two brothers, Donald and Lee Warren Stalker and two sisters, Velma Robertson and Valerie White Schultz.
In keeping with her wishes, she was cremated. A private service held at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
