Virginia Smith, age 85, of Versailles passed away Monday, September 4, 2023 at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
It was on the 26th day of December in 1937 that Charley and Mabel (Need) Pryor welcomed their daughter, Virginia, into their home in Stover.
On July 9, 1955, she was married to Earl Vaughn Smith at their minister's home south of Stover.
Virginia stayed busy taking care of her family. She enjoyed reading Amish books, cooking, sewing, canning vegetables, gardening, going to yard sales, house keeping; but most importantly spending time with her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Going to church was very important to Virginia. She also liked teaching children in Sunday School.
Left to carry on Virginia's legacy is her husband, Vaughn; daughter, Tara Smith Hunziker of Versailles; sister, Dorothy McLennan and husband Mel of Stover; six grandchildren, Jeremy Smith, Tyler Smith, Ronnie Smith and wife Elizabeth, Gabriel Smith, Bethany Hunziker Thomas and husband Jonathon, and Virginia Hunziker; three great grandchildren, Annastasia, Scarlett, and Azriel Thomas; and two daughters-in-law, Cheryl Smith and Gabriella Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Rodney Vaughn Smith and Ronald Lee Smith; a son-in-law, Donald Hunziker; and eleven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Family Worship Center in Versailles with Pastor Danny Owsley officiating. Burial will be in the Stover Cemetery. Anthony Roberts, Jonathon Thomas, Ronnie Smith, and Jeremy Smith will serve as pallbearers. Tyler Smith will be an honorary pallbearer.
A visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Family Worship Center.
