Virginia "Ginny" Ann Groff

January 10, 1945 — November 10, 2017

Virginia Ann “Ginny” Groff, age 72, of Stover, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017.    She was born January 10, 1945, in Auburn, Nebraska, a daughter of Vern and Verna Oestmann Moody.  On May 28, 1965, in Omaha, Nebraska Ginny was united in marriage to Richard Groff, who survives at their home.    Ginny was a homemaker, busy raising her three children and supporting her husband in his farming and cattle operation as well as his mission work.  Throughout their marriage they worked side by side in the mission field, together serving in Africa, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica, and she staying at home with the children while he served in Ecuador and Japan.         While raising her family Ginny obtained a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, which led to a teaching position at the Bayside Academy in Alabama and East Linn Academy in Oregon, where she taught math and computer science.       Rich and Ginny settled in the Stover community where they raised goats, cattle, mules, and organic produce.  She and Rich enjoyed spending time on their farm, exploring the area riding or driving their mules.  Their love of animals led them to design and market the Horse Shave, a disposable razor for horse grooming. She ran this business over 15 years.       Ginny belonged to the spinning group in Versailles, where she enjoyed the fellowship of the women who attended.  However, her greatest pleasure in life came from her love of God and being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.       In addition to her husband of 53+ years, she is survived by three children and their spouses, Steve and Jennifer Groff of Louisville, Nebraska; Diane and Justin Ewing of Meeker, Colorado and Kristin and Steve Burdine of Branson, Missouri; three siblings and their spouses, Larry and Judy Moody of Omaha, Nebraska; Allan and Edine Moody of Auburn, Nebraska and Marilyn Heins of Central City, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Julianne Groff, Paul Groff, Audra Hampton and husband Ron, Erica Bartelmie and husband Garrett, Bret Blackburn, Austin Burdine and wife Kristin and Luke Burdine, two great-grandchildren, R.J. and Sadie Hampton; along with step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.       A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 14th meeting at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home and proceeding to the Stover Cemetery with Chaplain Jim Hale officiating.  A Time of Sharing will immediately follow in the Stover Community Building, all are invited to attend.       In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the local church or charity of your choice in her name.
