Victor A. Schnirch

November 21, 1921 — April 8, 2008

Victor August Schnirch, age 86, of rural Versailles, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
He was born November 21, 1921, in Stover, a son of John and Anna Albers Schnirch. Victor married Violet Nolting Berkstresser in September of 1946, and she preceded him in death November 23, 1966. He later married Margaret Dickie in 1969.
He was an Army veteran, serving his country from 1942- 1945, in the Transportation Corp. during World War II.
He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and later farmed.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Schnirch and wife Barbara, John Schnirch and wife Jeri and Larry Schnirch all of Stover; one daughter, Peggy Schnirch of Versailles; two step daughters, Una Bennett and Lisa Brumm; one brother, Raymond Schnirch and wife Evelyn of Kansas City, Kansas; three sisters, Mary Johnson and husband Charley of Ashton, Iowa; Helen Long and husband Glenn and Betty James all of Versailles; also several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Norman and Eddie Schnirch, two sisters, Joan Johnson and Irene Hodges and two stepsons, Leon Berkstresser and Mark Dickie.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 11, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Pastor Cecil Murdock officiating. Interment, with military funeral honors, will be in the St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery in Stover.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 10, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Pauls Lutheran School.
