Vernon Cash

Vernon "Slim" Cash, age 79, of Independence, formerly of Jefferson City, died Saturday, November 14, 2007, at his home.
He was born April 17, 1928, in Wewoka, Oklahoma, a son of Arthur and Hattie Rena Bowens Cash. On September 1, 1957, he married Lorene Peoples Marriott in Colorado and she preceded him in death on March 30, 1994.
He worked at Florsheim Shoes in Eldon for a few years, before retiring from the factory in Jefferson City.
He was a member of the Teamsters Local 833 in Jefferson City. He and Lorene enjoyed being a part of the C.B Clubs in the area.
He had resided in the Jefferson City area for 30 years, before moving to be near his daughter.
Survivors include three children, Susan "Sue" Williams and husband Terry of Independence; Debbie Tomblin and husband Kenny of Kansas City, Kansas and Vernon M. Cash of the state of Washington; two brothers, Carol Larry Cash of El Paso, Texas and Willard Cash of Benton, Arkansas; one sister, Geneva Kopecky Clark of La Porte, Texas; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, also other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a stepdaughter, Pauline Marriott, a stepson, Donald Marriott, two brothers, Jack and Harris Cash and four sisters, Luna Durnell, Catherine Alsbrook, Kellen Trice and Bernice Dawson.
Graveside services will be 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, November 14, in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery with Bro. Paul Lynn officiating. The recorded selection of "One Day at A Time" by Christy Lane will be played.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. - 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles.
