Verda Mae Koehn

Verda Mae Koehn, age 78, of Stover, Missouri passed away Sunday night, July 27, 2008, at her daughter's home north of Stover.
She was born August 23, 1929, in Copeland, Kansas a daughter of Sam M. and Susie Unruh Smith. On August 4, 1949, in Copeland, she was united in marriage to John J. Koehn. Mr. Koehn survives at their home.
She was a homemaker, busy raising her family. For a few years she worked as a cook at the Red Rock School in Ulysses, Kansas.
Mrs. Koehn was a member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite Oak Ridge Congregation at Stover.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of almost 59 years, include two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Norma Koehn and Marcus and Cindy Koehn all of Ulysses, Kansas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne and Sidney Koehn of Livingston, California; LaRee and Elton Prater of Lubbock, Texas and Sara and Wesley Koehn of Stover; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ervie and Pearl Smith of Dodge City, Kansas; Vernon and Evelyn Smith of Ulysses, Kansas and Milton and Shirley Smith of Dodge City, Kansas; two sisters and four brothers-in-law, Irene Unruh of Copeland, Kansas; Doris and Bill Friezen of Ithica, Michigan; Pete Koehn of Cimarron, Kansas; Lee Koehn of Montezuma, Kansas and Eugene Harms of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Mrs. Koehn was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Pearl Koehn, Viola Koehn and Francis Harms and one grandson.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, July 31, at the Oak Ridge Congregation with Ministers Don Wedel and William Koehn officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 P.M. at the Oak Ridge Congregation on Highway 135 north of Stover.
Funeral services will also be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, August 2 at the Grant Mennonite Church in Ulysses, with Ministers Denton Koehn and Stuart Jantzen officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the Grant Mennonite Church Cemetery in Ulysses with Adam Findley, Dayne Koehn, Jordan Koehn, Titus Koehn, Joel Jantz, Mark Koehn, Jason Koehn and Ryan Koehn serving as casket bearers.
Friends will be received on Friday, August 1, at the Grant County Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kansas.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Oak Ridge Congregation at Stover.
