Valeta, or “Lete” as she was called by her nieces and nephews, was an accomplished baker. Her gift to her nieces, nephews and their children was incredible birthday cakes and in time their own wedding cakes. Not only did she design cakes for her family, but many people in the area benefited from her baking expertise. In addition to her baking, she was known for making the Christmas candy her nieces and nephews received each year. She was also the family Christmas stocking maker; finishing her last set of stockings within the past year.
She loved being on the home place, which recently received the distinction of being a century farm.
