Trudy L. Twenter

Trudy Lucille Twenter, 96, of Pilot Grove, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Boone Hospital Center.

She was born May 12, 1928, in Mora, the youngest of seven children of Frank and Hermania “Minnie” (Weller) Seifner.

On April 15, 1950, in Spring Fork, she was united in marriage to Earl William Twenter, who preceded her in death on January 13, 2023. The family made their home on Meadow Brook Century Farm for over 72 years. They farmed and raised six children while being active in the community. 

When Katy Manor opened, Trudy worked as a charge nurse until she retired to care for her grandchildren.

She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Clear Creek, where she played the organ and was a member of the Altar Society. 

Trudy was a Clear Creek 4-H leader, PTO president, served on the Pilot Grove school board and Katy Manor board of directors, and was a Cooper County Republican committeewoman. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, gardening, and being a farmer’s wife. Being with her family brought her great joy, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are five children, Cheryl (Frank) Reuter, Candy (Randy) Schlotzhauer, Cindy (David) Lang, Noel (Carol) Twenter, and Chrysa (Terry) Lorenz; daughter-in-law, Marcia Twenter; thirteen grandchildren, Aaron Reuter, Bradley (Staci) Reuter, Justin (Sarah) Schlotzhauer, Brandy Schlotzhauer Skaggs (Derek), Alexander & Anderson Twenter, Rochelle Lang, Clayton Lang, Stacia Twenter Felgar, Shane (Amanda) Twenter, Dylan Twenter, Cassandra Lorenz Denomme (Brad), and McKalie Lorenz; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bernard Theodore “Ted” Twenter; and six siblings, Frances Cawley, Clara Heurtz, Rose Smith, Joseph Seifner, Edna Martinez, and Bernard “Larry” Seifner.

Prayers of the Rosary will begin at 8:45 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2024, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clear Creek, with visitation until 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Mark Smith officiating.

Casket bearers will be Aaron Reuter, Bradley Reuter, Justin Schlotzhauer, Derek Skaggs, Alexander Twenter, Anderson Twenter, Clayton Lang, Shane Twenter, Dylan Twenter, Brad Denomme, and William Reuter.

Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Clear Creek. 

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph School Foundation or St. John’s Cemetery.
