Thomas "Tom" L. Brown

Thomas L. Brown, of Smithton, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007, at the Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia.
He was born February 24, 1946, in Gashland, Missouri a son of Hugh and Doshia Lane Brown. On December 29, 1978, in Odessa, he married Leslie Friedley and to this union two daughters were born. Leslie survives at their home. Mr. Brown served eight years in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Ticonderoga, off the coast of Vietnam in 1964, and later on the USS Enterprise. He was employed in construction until 2005. He was also a rancher and an avid musician. He lived in Smithton for 10 years, until his death. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Cassie Brown of Boulder, Colorado; one son, Troyce Brown of Nampa, Idaho,; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Gerri Brown of Heyburn, Idaho, four sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte and Jim Barklow of Myrtle Point, Oregon; Deborah and Don Gullick of Rockport, Texas; Dorothy Kraatz of Higginsville, Missouri and Isabel and Ronald Gray of Bates City, Missouri; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Katrina Brown in 1999, his parents, Hugh and Doshia Brown, and one sister, Vivian Cook. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 12, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Cassie Brown officiating. Interment, with military funeral honors, will be in the Stover Cemetery, Pallbearers will be Ronald Gray, James Bradley, Benjamin Kowalski, Alan Meyer, William Woodruff, and Rick Willis with Clyde Pope serving as an honorary bearer. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 11, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Children's Therapy Center, % of the Center for Human Services, 1500 Ewing Drive, Sedalia, MO 65301.
