Sue Prestage

Carolyn Sue Prestage, 93, of Tipton, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, MO.

She was born on August 14, 1933, in Bloomington, Indiana, a daughter of Amos Ellsworth and Ruth Irma (Reister) Pickens. On October 19, 1952, in Orleans, Indiana, she married Max Prestage. Together they shared more than 57 years of marriage before his passing on November 4, 2009.

Sue was a faithful member of First Christian Church in Tipton, where she served as a former choir director and was active in the Christian Women's Fellowship. She found great joy in serving her church and building lasting friendships within the congregation.

She was also active in the Tipton community, participating in the Thursday and Friday Bridge Clubs, the Tipton Garden Club, and the foreign exchange program, where she enjoyed welcoming and getting to know students from around the world.

Sue embraced life with enthusiasm and enjoyed many hobbies. She loved playing bridge and marbles, working in her yard and flower gardens, bowling, golfing, and, perhaps most of all, shopping. She had a wonderful sense of style and was known for her love of fashion and her impressive collection of shoes. She also enjoyed sewing, creating clothing for her three daughters and later for her grandchildren. Her talents extended beyond her own family as she served as a Girl Scout leader and lovingly sewed numerous twirling competition uniforms for her daughters.

Some of Sue's happiest times were spent at her winter home in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and at the family's lake house at the Lake of the Ozarks, where she enjoyed making memories with family and friends.

Above all, Sue treasured her family. Whether sewing a special outfit, sharing a shopping trip, hosting gatherings, or simply spending time together, she found her greatest joy in those she loved. She will be remembered for being young in spirit, her dedication to her family and community, her love of fashion, and the many friendships she cultivated throughout her life.

Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Milligan (Gary) of Tipton, Sherri Prestage Emery of Jefferson City, Linda Brandt (Keith) of Haslet, TX; nine grandchildren, Travis Milligan, Jared Milligan, Zachary Milligan, Tara Van Loo (Brad), Jesse Wiedmaier (Brian), Amy West (Aaron), Seth Emery (Olivia), Aleigha Lowy (Brian), Logan Brandt (Sarah); 14 great-grandchildren, Braxton and Hudson Milligan, Brodyn, Cambri and Berkley Van Loo, Kora, Max, and Aubrie Wiedmaier, Bingham and Tucker West, Cohen and Emersyn Emery, Kendall Brandt-Lowy, Josephine Brandt; two brothers, Bill Pickern (Janice) of Orleans, IN, and Tom Pickens (Phyllis) of Tipton.

In addition to both of her parents and her husband; she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Angela Marie Milligan.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Monday, September 28, 2026, at the First Christian Church in Tipton. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Monday at the church with burial to follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church or the Price Jame Library.
