Stephen Edward Nau, 73, of Boonville, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove.
He was born September 25, 1948, in Dodge City, KS, son of Carl Henry and Betty Irene (Shean) Nau.
On March 2, 1968, he married Marva Lee (Herndon), who preceded him in death on December 3, 1988.
He was confirmed in the Catholic Church at age 14.
Steve was a 1966 graduate of Otterville High School. He served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970.
He worked as an over-the-road truck driver before working twenty years in construction and farm work, and then returned to his love of trucking until retirement.
Steve was a kind, caring man who would always lend a helping hand to anyone. He enjoyed camping, reading, fishing, watching westerns and woodworking.
He served on the Otterville Board of Alderman for several terms before serving two terms as Mayor.
Surviving are his significant other of 32 years, Judy Parkhurst, of the home; a daughter, Cara Conner (Dan), of Otterville; a son, Travis Nau (Pamela), of Higginsville; his mother, Betty Nau, of Tipton; Judy’s children, Rusty Parkhurst (Candace), of Boonville, and Alan Parkhurst, of Columbia; six grandchildren, Steven, Bradley, Daniel, Garrison, Kalen and Alex; three siblings, Carlene Petree (Larry), of Tipton, Larry Nau (Cheri), of Oak Grove, and Kevin Nau, of Stover; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Nau; and sister, Patricia Kramer.
Steve was cremated. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Otterville.
A graveside service and burial with military honors will be held at a later date in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Otterville.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
