Stanley Allen Caviness, age 63, of Versailles, passed away Friday morning, August 18, 2017, at his home in Sedalia. He was born June 22, 1954, in Versailles, a son of Jess. W. and Esther V. Marriott Caviness. Stan served his country in the United States Army. He was self-employed as a carpenter and painter for most of his life. Stan enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering with old cars. Survivors include one daughter, Lacetia Caviness of Nashville, Tennessee; a son, Jeremiah Caviness of Sedalia; Jeremiah’s mother and Stan’s significant other, Shannon Iman and her two sons, Tristen and Jordan all of Sedalia; four siblings and their spouses, Evelyn “Sue” and Calvin Waisner and Dorsey “Buster” and Brenda Caviness all of Versailles; Ruth Ann and Don Evans of Council Grove, Kansas and Richard Caviness of Denver, Colorado; two granddaughters, Brittanie and Cortney, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Stan was preceded in death by his father, Jess Caviness and one brother, Robert “Bob” Caviness. Stan’s mother, Esther passed away on Friday evening just a few hours after her son. In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated. Private services will take place at a later date.
