Shirley Jean Merriott

April 11, 1940 — March 5, 2008

Shirley Jean Merriott, age 67, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at her home.
She was born April 11, 1940, in Cole Camp, a daughter of Arthur and Clara Mueller Kaiser. On March 20, 1960, in Cole Camp, Shirley married Stanley "Sid" Merriott and he preceded her in death July 2, 2007.
She was a graduate of Cole Camp High School. Shirley was a postal clerk at the Stover Post Office for 20 years. She also owned Merriott's Tax Service in Stover for more than 20 years.
She was an active and faithful member of the Stover First Baptist Church, where she taught the 3rd and 4th grade Sunday School class for more than 20 years and was a Vacation Bible School teacher for many years. She also lead the Sunday School service and the monthly worship services at the nursing home.
Survivors include three children, Thomas Sidney Merriott and wife Tori of Lebanon; Major Timothy Scott Merriott and wife Melissa of West Lafayette, Indiana; and Tamra Sue Wilson and husband Scott of Stover; one brother, David Kaiser and wife Becky of Warsaw; six grandchildren, Taylor and Tyler Merriott, Nate and Colin Merriott and Corin and Corben Wilson, a niece, Kristi Harms and husband Dale, a nephew, Keith Kaiser and wife Amy, a great niece and three great nephews, Addison and Warner Harms and Hans and Hugh Kaiser, also other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, March 9, at the Stover First Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday, March 8, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Stover First Baptist Church.
