Shirley Faye (Krug) Evans, 77, of Otterville, MO passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.

She was born January 19, 1944, in Ransom, KS, daughter of John and Marie (Dietz) Krug. Her parents farmed in Ransom, Grinnell and finally Oakley, KS where Shirley grew up. She had many happy memories being raised on a farm. She really loved the outdoors and tagging along after her two older brothers, Wayne and Ron.

She married in 1962 and had two daughters, Dee Ann and Tracy Lee. Her most cherished role was that of mother and she stayed at home raising her girls for 15 years.

At the age of 36, she became a single parent and sole provider for her two daughters. She went to work at Lamy's Mfg in Sedalia MO for 4 years. To be closer to her family, Shirley moved to Hays, KS and began working for Dillons Grocery store. She worked 26 years there until her retirement in 2008.

After retirement, she moved back to farm life near Otterville, MO, next door to her daughter Dee Ann and son-in-law Cary Brodersen who farm there.

She loved walking and enjoyed watching sports of all kinds but in particular, Royals baseball, Chiefs football and Nascar racing. She traveled from coast to coast with family, friends and on her own. She had a lifelong love of music and played the piano beautifully.

Along with her faith and her family, Shirley truly valued her friends which she made for life. She loved nothing more than walking and talking with them and/or traveling with them.

She was baptized as an infant at Zion Lutheran in Wakeeney, KS and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran in Oakley, KS. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran in Hays, KS. After retirement, she attended First Baptist Church of Tipton with Dee Ann and Cary.

Surviving are two daughters, Dee Ann Brodersen (Cary) of Otterville, MO and Tracy Evans; two brothers, Wayne (Lila) Krug of Salina, KS and Ron Krug of Nevada; five nephews and their families and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother who died shortly after birth and her nephew Kody Krug.
