Sherry Rae Wessing

Sherry Rae Wessing, 73, of Pilot Grove, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at her home, surrounded by family.

She was born March 22, 1948, in Sedalia, daughter of Ruben and Marjorie (Pittenger) Fuller.

On April 20, 1968, at St. John’s Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Eugene “Larry” Wessing. They were married 47 years before Larry’s passing in 2016 and were blessed with two children.

Sherry was a 1966 graduate of Knob Noster High School. She worked various jobs and retired from Citizen’s Community Bank in 2019.

Sherry loved cooking for her family. Fried chicken was a specialty. She enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, going to Bennett Spring, watching the Royals, and spending time with her friends, family and granddogs. She loved to decorate for Christmas and sitting on her porch enjoying the sunrises.

Surviving are a daughter, Lynn Schupp (Randy) of Pilot Grove; a son, John Wessing (Crystal) of California, MO; a grandson, Gavin Randall Schupp; a granddaughter, Maggie Rae Wessing; and two sisters, Janet Scott (Cullen) of Blue Springs, and her twin, Sharon “Toby” Reynolds of Concordia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Fuller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2021, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clear Creek, with Fr. Derek Hooper officiating.

Casket bearers will be Brad Scott, Clint Scott, Jason Reynolds, Jarrod Reynolds, Kevin Wessing, Avery Goehman, Chris Scott and Terry Schupp.

Honorary bearers will be Barbara Twenter, Barbara Schupp, Glenn Schupp, Julie Schupp, Rosie Lorenz, Robert Lorenz and Marilyn Gerling.

Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Cemetery.

Arrangements are in the care of Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove.
