August 25, 1953 — October 31, 2017

Scottie E. Burnett, age 64, of Stover, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at his home.

He was born August 25, 1953, in Versailles a son of Samuel N. and Mary Conner Burnett.

Scottie was united in marriage to Joan Smith Shewmaker on June 13, 1998, at his sister’s home in Versailles. Joan survives at their home.

He grew up in Stover and worked as a mechanic for Viebrock's Auto Service for a few years.  He also worked as a truck driver in Texas and later owned his own garage in Stover.

Scottie enjoyed visiting with friends and was a great storyteller.  He was always on the lookout for a new home remedy and as long as his health allowed he enjoyed tinkering with old cars.  He spent many hours reading and studying his Bible; however, his greatest enjoyment came from being with his wife and family.

He was a faithful member of Big Rock church.

In addition to his wife Joan, he  is survived by five children and their spouses, Tammy and Larry Kerksiek of Stover; Kenny and Edwina Shewmaker of Stover; Marsha and Bruce McDaniel of Holts Summit; Brenda and Joel Perkins of Jefferson City and Lisa and Doug Luebbert of Holts Summit; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Jim Anderson of Versailles; a brother and sister-in-law, Walter (Fred) and Vickie Cadue of Versailles; sixteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, along with many other family members and friends.

Scottie was preceded in death by his father, Sam Burnett, his mother, Mary Cadue, his step-father, Adolph Cadue, and a brother, Johnny Burnett.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Brother Steve Macy and Brother Kenny Shewmaker officiating.  Interment will be in the Chaney Chapel Cemetery south of Stover.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
