Sandy Barnes

Sandy Kay Barnes, 50, of Eldon, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026, at her home.

She was born on May 3, 1976, in Boonville, Missouri, the daughter of Edwin and Janis (Norman) Wassman. On July 7, 2007, at the First Christian Church in Tipton she married Donnie Barnes who survives of the home.

Sandy was a faithful member of First Christian Church in Tipton, where she was actively involved in the Christian Women's Fellowship (CWF). Her faith was an important part of her life and was reflected in the compassion and kindness she shared with others each day.

A 1995 graduate of Tipton High School, Sandy dedicated many years of her career to Scholastic Inc. in Jefferson City. Her work there perfectly complemented one of her greatest passions—helping children. She absolutely loved children and spent many years babysitting, becoming a trusted caregiver and cherished friend to countless families. Through her employment at Scholastic, Sandy found great joy in purchasing books that she generously donated to children's programs, local teachers, and area schools, believing every child deserved the opportunity to discover the joy of reading.

Sandy was also a devoted member of the Rocky Mount Lions Club, where she faithfully volunteered and gave of her time to support her community. She was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever she was needed.

In her free time, Sandy found happiness in reading a good book and treasured the companionship of her beloved dogs, Dolly and Annie, who brought her endless comfort and joy.

Above all, Sandy will be remembered for her caring heart, generous spirit, and the genuine love she showed to children and everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her quiet acts of kindness, thoughtful generosity, and selfless devotion to others will continue to be remembered by all whose lives she touched.

She leaves behind her family, many dear friends, members of her church family, fellow Lions Club members, and countless children and families whose lives were enriched by her love and kindness. Her memory will forever remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

Survives include her husband, Donnie; one sister, Gay Baer (Jeff) of Tipton; four stepchildren, Brandon Collier, Donovan Barnes (Amy), Shannon Barnes (Amber Baumgart), and Jay Barnes; five step-grandchildren, Accalia, Vanya, Eli, Parker, Isaiah; one niece and two nephews, Madeline, Tyler, and Jackson Baer.

Sandy was preceded in death by her mother, Janis Wassman.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Tipton. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with inurnment to follow in the California City Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Rocky Mount Lions Club.
