Ruth L. Latham

January 18, 1929 — December 8, 2020

Ruth Louise Latham, 91, of Overland Park, KS, formerly of Tipton, MO, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020, in Overland Park.

Born January 18, 1929, in Riley, KS, she was the second of three daughters of Walter and Edith (Culley) Baer.

Ruth grew up in Riley. While studying at Baker University and working in Topeka, she met John Latham of Latham, MO. They were married on August 5, 1951, in Riley.

After marriage they moved back to the Tipton area where they purchased an appliance business which they would name Latham Appliance Center. Together they operated this business for many years.

Ruth was a member of First Christian Church and its CWF Auxiliary. She served on the board and was a volunteer at the Price James Library, and volunteered at Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City. She enjoyed reading and bowling. She and John attended Mizzou football games for many years.

Ruth will be remembered as a kind, gentle, God-fearing woman who loved her family.

Surviving are two sons, Darrell Latham (Becky), of Leawood, KS, and Steven Latham (Jennifer Klopfstein), of Monomonee Falls, WI; three grandchildren, Matt (Libby), Todd (Leslie), and Elliott; and three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Lucas and Hattie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on December 14, 2007; and her two sisters, Virginia Perkins and Carol Dettmer.

A private graveside service will be held at Latham Cemetery.

Friends may pay their respects and sign the guest book from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton.

Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church.
