Ruth Sue Koechner

Ruth Sue Koechner, age 75 of Jefferson City, died Saturday evening, December 29, 2019 at the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

One of three children, Ruth was born July 30, 1943 to Louis J. and Gertrude M. Koechner. Ruth was born and raised in Tipton, Missouri. After graduating from high school she attended the University of Missouri to attain an Associates Degree.

For her first job, Ruth was employed as a legal assistant by a local prominent attorney, Tweeddie Fischer. After leaving that position, she held positions at St. Mary's Hospital and then Capital Region Hospital, both in Jefferson City. For the last twenty years, Ruth was employed by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Ruth was devoted to the Church and was very involved in all activities there. She gave of her talents and funds generously to local Churches and Catholic charities. She played the guitar and sang and joined with other musicians to perform at Churches in Jefferson City as well as other churches in the area. She loved to travel and was able to visit many interesting places including Mexico and also the Holy Land.

Ruth was extremely attached to her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. They, in turn, all adored their Aunt Ruth as well.

Preceding Ruth S. Koechner in death were her parents, Louis J. and Gertrude M. Koechner.

Those surviving Ruth are her sisters Donna Lee Rice and her husband Harold Wayne of Hartsburg, Missouri, and Peggy Lou Frederick and her husband Larry J, of Boonville, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Michael W. Rice (Randy), Jeffry Rice, Scott Rice, Georgetta Rice, Jennifer Swan (Jon), Lorie Imhoff (Philip), Troy Frederick (Tari), Danny Frederick (Allison) and numerous great nieces and nephews as well as other family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., January 3, 2019 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tipton, Missouri with burial immediately following at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Tipton. A rosary will begin at 9:30 A.M., with visitation following from 10:00 A.M. until the service.
