Rosie Davidson

Versailles

   Rosie Davidson, age 87, of Versailles passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024, at her home.
   It was on the 22nd day of June in 1936, that Charley and Dollie (Gerlt) Simmons welcomed their daughter, Rosie Catherine, into their home in Morgan County. She was baptized south of Stover in Little Buffalo Creek. She was confirmed at Trinety Church south of Stover.
   On September 19, 1953, Rosie was united in marriage to Bill Davidson. He preceded her in death just 21 days, on March 3.
   Rosie was a hard worker. She worked as a seamstress. Later she also helped her daughters, Jeannie and Kathy, with wallpapering and painting. In addition to all of this she took care of her family. Throughout her life she cared for her husband for seventy years, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, along with many other family members and friends. She liked to bake pies for everyone. Her pies were so good she won contests with them. She put her sewing skills to good use for her family, also sewing them clothes and teddy bears and other things. She liked doing crafts, painting, gardening, and camping. She was a helping hand not just to her family and friends but to anyone who needed it.
      Left to carry on her legacy are her three sons, William "Bill" Dewayne Davidson, John Wesley Davidson and wife Margaret, and Donald Ray Davidson and wife Cindy all of Versailles; two daughters, Naomi Jean Cable of Sedalia and Kathryn Louise Hintt and husband Jeff of Versailles; a brother, Vincel Simmons; a sister, Freadia Middleton; a sister-in-law, Leta Fern Vogt; sixteen grandchildren; thirty one great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.
   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; son, James Irving Davidson; a grandson, Damien Davidson; four brothers, Elroy, William, Estel, and C.E. Simmons; and four sisters, Cleo Adams, Mary Cable, Viola Jewell, and Betty Jean Simmons.
   Funeral services for Rosie will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover with Pastor Danny Owsley officiating. 
   The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
   Memorial contributions are suggested to Rosie’s family.
