Ronald Eugene Kerksiek

Ronald Eugene Kerksiek, age 46, of Stover, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born March 7, 1972, in Sedalia, the son of Edwin Louis and Norine Edna Witte Kerksiek.

Ronald was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stover.

He was a 1990 graduate of Stover High School.

Ron went to work at Walmart in Versailles in April of 1989 at the age of 17; a summer job which turned into a lifelong career. At the time of his death, Ron was a manager of the Wal-Mart store in Osage Beach.  Ron truly poured his soul into his work and the people who worked alongside and for him.

When not at work, he spent a great deal of time outdoors. He worked on the family farm tending cattle, working a garden, fishing, mushroom and arrow head hunting, or simply taking walks through the property. Although hard work, he often mentioned he enjoyed baling hay and being up on the tractor. His favorite fall activity was cutting wood. He enjoyed the exercise in the cool air and it gave him a great sense of pride to provide for his family. With Fall also came deer season and you’d find him in the woods any spare moment he had. As a young man Ron raised coon hounds and enjoyed the evenings he could run his dogs.

The most important thing to Ron was spending time with his family and making memories with his children. He enjoyed many adventures and many vacations spent in the mountains hiking trails, taking scenic drives, viewing wildlife and visiting historic landmarks. He also visited the ocean on many occasions where he enjoyed boogie boarding, tanning on the beach, collecting shells and eating the ocean fare at local restaurants.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Jennifer Calton of the home; two daughters, Ashley Kerksiek of Sedalia and Melissa Kerksiek and fiancé Preston Ptomey of Stover; a step daughter, Terra Holland of Tipton; two step sons, Austin Hollard of Tipton and Dylan Calton of Gravois Mills; three step grandchildren, Zackary, Lukas and Aaliyah Holland, an uncle and aunt, Charles and Dianna Witte of Elkland; mother of his children,  Mary Kerksiek of Sedalia, as well as many beloved cousins, extended family, great lifelong friends and his Walmart family.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Norine and one sister, Brenda Kay Kerksiek.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Bro. Steve Robinson officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Stover.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
