Roger Heimsoth

December 19, 1934 — May 23, 2025

Roger Dale Heimsoth, 90, of Stover passed away Friday, May 23, 2025, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.

He was born on December 19, 1934, in Stover, the only child of Loren and Lucille Mae (Conley) Heimsoth. On February 3, 1962, in Kansas City, MO, he married Mary "Tootsie" Troncoso who preceded him in death on February 26, 2022.

Roger honorably served his nation first in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and later in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His dedication to duty and country was unwavering, and his military service was a point of quiet pride throughout his life.

Roger was baptized, confirmed, and remained a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover. His faith guided him throughout his life, shaping the values of kindness, compassion, and humility that he shared with everyone around him.

Roger had a passion for collecting, particularly guns and watches, and took great joy in sharing stories and knowledge about his treasured finds. He also enjoyed watching the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs (being able to see all their Super Bowl wins so far). Those who knew him well will remember his gentle spirit, generous heart, and his special bond with dogs.

In November of 2022, Roger moved to the Veteran's Home in Warrensburg where he lived his life to the fullest. You could often find Roger zooming around in his electric wheelchair, joking with the aids, or just enjoying Bingo. Roger enjoyed playing solitaire or just "shopping" on his laptop. He always greeted his family with a huge smile and enjoyed visiting with them. He enjoyed his last few years at the "Old Soldier's Home".

He leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, and love. Roger will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

Survivors include three children, Beverly Jackson (David) of Stover, Natalie Stockstill (Randy) of Kansas City, MO, Mark Heimsoth of Stover; grandchildren, Josh Gregg, Joe Gregg and Jamie Young, Amanda and Joe Hutchison, Abby and James "Manley" Coey, Jordan and Haley Mackie, and Heather Heimsoth; great-grandchildren, Pryscilla, Porter, Parissa, Mason, Aaliyah, Camber, Caylen, Westyn, Jayce, Ripp, Kylie, Rhenlee, Rhett, and Diver; one uncle Neil Heimsoth of Cole Camp, several cousins and other family members as well as all his cherished friends from the Missouri Veterans Home.

Roger was preceded in death by both of his parents and his wife Mary; one grandson, Andrew Brown, and several aunts and uncles.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg. Arrangements are in the care of Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home.
