May 19, 1956 — August 19, 2021

Richard "Rick" Sparks, age 65, of Stover passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

Rick was born May 19, 1956 in Springfield, Ohio to Walter Eugene and Phyllis(Teel) Sparks.

On July 1, 1999 Rick was united in marriage to Delores Boyce.

He was an independent fiber optic contractor for Schatz Underground for a number of years. He also ran his own construction company in recent years, Sparky's Construction.

When he wasn't working, Rick enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also loved to garden, hunt, and was an avid fisherman. Crappie fishing was his passion. He fished countless tournaments across the Midwest and took home many trophies over the years.  He loved to share his passion of fishing with many family members and friends. He took pride in teaching people how to crappie fish, and loved having fish fry’s so family and friends could enjoy the crappie that was caught throughout the year. He was also a dedicated Kansas City Chiefs fan and could often be found down at Ivy Bend on any given football Sunday cheering on the Chiefs with good friends.

Left to carry on Rick's legacy is his wife of twenty-two years, Dee; two sons, Richard Sparks and Alan Sparks and fiancé Gena Pritchett all of Stover; four stepsons, Jeffery Cutter, Rahn Cutter, Kevin Cutter all of Florida, and Brandon Cutter of Stover; one stepdaughter, Stacey Cutter and her significant other Rick Peters of Blue Springs; four grandchildren, Bradley Sparks, Eaven Sparks, Raylee Hansen, and Cameron Sparks; two step grandchildren, Emma Sergent and Ryan Peters; along with other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother Earl Sparks.

In keeping with his wishes he was cremated. A service will be planned at a later date.
