Reverend Vincent Hubert Aggeler, CSsR

Father Vincent Hubert Aggeler, 87, died peacefully surrounded by his Redemptorist Community at St. Clement Health Care/Retirement Center in Liguori, MO on March 13, 2020. He was born on October 31, 1932 the first of 10 children of Hubert “Buddy” and Bernice Anna (Schuster) Aggeler in Pilot Grove, MO.

He is survived by 4 brothers and 3 sisters: Donald (Dorothy dcd), Juanita (Don) Klein, Phyllis White, Harold (Charleen), Lyle (Carolyn), Marilyn (David) Felten, and Ted (Vicky); 32 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Maureen Ruth in 1943, brother Ted Ray who died at birth in 1952; and three nieces and nephews.

Father Vince went to Redemptorist Fathers St. Joseph College Prep High School Seminary in Kirkwood, MO; Novitiate in DeSoto, MO; and Major Seminary in Oconomowoc, WI where he was ordained a priest in 1958. His First Mass was held outdoors five days later, June 29, 1958 in his hometown of Clifton City, MO, most likely the greatest event the little town ever had! He served at Redemptorist “Rock” Church in St. Louis, then in 1960 went to be a missionary in the Amazon Valley of Brazil where he spent the next 46 years on the Amazon River, which he loved. Health brought him back to the States in 2006 and in 2008 to the Redemptorist Health and Retirement Facility in Liguori, MO where he had a great community. He continued his missionary work with his many Facebook friends throughout the world. He was a great photographer and shared his pictures online. He liked woodworking and many a child has a jewelry/treasure box which he painted especially for them. He always had a little joke to lighten the day of all he met. He had a great love for Our Lady and made and gave away many rosaries.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph Church, Clifton City, MO at 10:30 am Wednesday, March 18, 2020 with burial immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery just north of Clifton City. Visitation will be Wednesday at 10:00 am until service time. There will also be a service Tuesday, March 17 at the St. Clement Chapel in Liguori.
