Reno Adam Warnke

February 2, 1919 — June 16, 2007

Reno A. Warnke age 88 of Stover, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 16, 2007, at his home.
He was born February 2, 1919, on the family farm located in the village of Bebra, which is northwest of Stover, a son of Albert John and Philippine Lemler Warnke. He was baptized February 21, 1919 and confirmed July 12, 1931, at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont. He married Esther Lucella Kueck on July 20, 1942, in the Christ Lutheran Church parsonage in Stover. Esther preceded him in death on October 1, 1997.

He attended grade school at Oakland Public Elementary School northwest of Stover and was a 1939 graduate of Stover High School. He also attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa through 1941.

Reno was an Army veteran, serving his country during World War II in North Africa and France. He served as Officers and Nurses 1st cook with the 46th General Hospital in the ETO until the end of the war with Germany and was then promoted to 1st Sgt., in charge of the 1011 Labor Supervision Company in Besencon, France. Following his discharge he joined the active reserves and the 420 Military government unit at Versailles and Jefferson City.

He served two terms as a state representative for Morgan County from 1950 to 1954, as a member of the 66th and 67th Missouri House of Representatives. During that time he served on several committees, ranging from Military and Veterans Affairs, Chairman of the Agriculture committee, Aviation, Forestry, Fish and Game, Rural Electrification, Motor Vehicle and Traffic Regulations, Public Health and Education and Rooms.

He was a lifelong farmer in the Stover area, raising short-horn cattle. He also worked for the USDA, Ralston Purina, the Morgan County Reassessment office and the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Reno was an active and faithful member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being on his farm, "robbing" honey trees, going to the Nutrition Site in Versailles and family night a church.

He is survived by seven children, David Warnke and wife Jo of Stover; Donald Warnke and wife Ruth Ann of Mora; Dietrick Warnke and wife Rhonda of Stover; Dennis Warnke and wife Cathy of Sedalia; Diann Bauer and husband Bill of Versailles; Dwight Warnke and wife Lisa of Rolla and Debbie Spears of Stover; fifteen grandchildren, Tia (husband Tom) White, Adam (wife April) Warnke, Derek Warnke, Jessica (husband Todd) Gerlt, Joshua Warnke, Justin Warnke, Lucas (wife Renee) Warnke, Bryan, Cristy and Jennifer Stevenson, Danielle Bauer, Laura (husband John) Hornecker, Aimee Warnke, Miranda and Michael Johnson, five great grandchildren, Emily and Collin White, Daniel and Kaitlyn Warnke and Allison Stevenson, also nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Daniel E. Warnke of March 16, 1964, and a sister, Lillie Friedly.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover with Pastor John Kiehl officiating. Ruth Leeper will accompany the church choir as they sing "God Bless America" and the congregation as they sing, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art". Interment, with military funeral honors rendered by the Galloway-Martens American Legion Post 343 in Stover, will be in the Stover Cemetery. David Warnke, Donald Warnke, Dietrick Warnke, Dennis Warnke, Dwight Warnke and Larry Wischmeier will serve as casket bearers.

Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 19, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Christ Lutheran Church or the Nutrition Site in Versailles. Arrangements are under the direction of the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
