Raymond Henry Hansen

Raymond H. Hansen, age 100, of Otterville, Missouri passed away early Tuesday, July 17, 2018.

Raymond was born to Martin H. and Minnie M. Hansen on February 25, 1918 in Ionia, Missouri. He and his family lived in rural Lincoln, Missouri during his childhood until moving to Beaman, Missouri prior to his senior year of high school. He was a graduate of Pilot Grove high school in 1937.

At a pie supper held at the Lookout School near Beaman, where his younger siblings attended, Raymond met the teacher, Margueritte Schilb whom he eventually married January 25, 1941. They spent 73 years together working and raising their own family of three children in Otterville, Missouri until Magueritte's death on October 31, 2014.

Raymond was a carpenter and cabinet maker by trade. He was a member and past deacon of First Baptist Church of Otterville and served his community as a city councilman. He was a member of the Otterville Sr. Citizen Center and also belonged to the Masonic Granite Lodge 272 of Sedalia.

His love of fishing took him to many of the lakes and rivers of the states of Missouri and Colorado. He also enjoyed the game of pool. Their home was where many reunions and gatherings were held and visiting with his family and friends was a favorite event for Raymond.

Preceding Raymond in death were his wife; parents; sons Jerald and Jimmie Hansen; foster daughter Sidney Allison; brothers Leonard and Harold Hansen; sisters Verna Mae Embry and Varena DeSantis; and one great grandson Dennis Hansen.

Those surviving Raymond are his daughter Judy Maggard and her husband Dale of Sedalia, Missouri; daughter-in-law Evelyn Hansen of Lakewood, Colorado; brother Robert Hansen and his wife Mary of Lakewood, Colorado; sister Mary Ann Heyer of Downy, California; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.

A funeral service for Raymond H. Hansen will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Otterville, Missouri with a visitation beginning at 1:00 PM prior to the service.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Otterville or Otterville Senior Citizen's Center.
