Orel Ray Quick, 79, of Pilot Grove, Missouri, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 11, 2025. He was born on March 13, 1945, in Fulton, Missouri, to Orel Rostyn and Lou Ellen (Hamilton) Quick, both of whom preceded him in death.
On August 13, 1971, Ray married Rebecca “Becky” Ann Richerson in Mexico, Missouri, and she survives of the home.
Ray worked at Fuqua Homes for thirty-one years. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting diecast model cars, and going to flea markets. He liked caring for his garden and giving the produce away to neighbors and friends. During the summer months, he mowed many people’s yards with his son, Aaron. Above all, he loved watching his kids and grandkids play sports.
Ray is survived by his wife Becky; one son, Aaron Quick of Pilot Grove; three daughters, Sonica (Brian) Williams of Mexico, Sonya (Jimmy) Jordan of Mexico, and Angelia Meisenheimer (Rob Dolliver) of Columbia; one brother, Duane (Jackie) Quick of Hallsville; three sisters, Carol McVay of Panama City, FL, Shirley Stubblefield of Auxvasse, and Vicki Behrens of Mexico; twelve grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Loal and Angeline Richerson.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ray’s life at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove on Monday, January 13, 2025, with recitation of the Rosary at 4:00 p.m. followed by visitation until 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with Father Mark Smith officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pilot Grove.
Pallbearers are Donnie Bonen, Troy Schupp, Danny Stubblefield, Mark Richerson, Duane Quick, and Bob Vollrath.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ray Quick Memorial Scholarship Fund, Pilot Grove High School. Donations may be made to this fund at Alliant Bank, Pilot Grove, MO.
A special thank you is given to Ray and Becky’s neighbors, Donnie and Cheryl Bonen, for their unwavering friendship and countless expressions of kindness over the last several years.
