Randall L. Moon

September 15, 1962 — March 17, 2021

Randall Lee Moon, 58, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at his home.

He was born September 15, 1962, to Leroy and Iris Jean Moon, joining two older siblings, Arthur Raydean and Rosie.

Randy graduated from Tipton High School in 1982 where he played football and ran track. He attended Southwest Baptist University from 1985 to 1988. He moved to Florida and met and fell in love with Vicki Stratman. They married on June 4, 1988. A son, Evan Scott Moon, was born January 27, 1995. They bought their first house in Lakeland, Florida in 1988, their second house in 1995, and then a third home in Seffner in 2002.

Randy started driving over-the-road in 1998 to keep Evan in a private Christian school. Randy loaded all of their household goods and moved to Missouri in 2013 where he worked for Kraft. He heard of opportunities in the oil fields of Oklahoma, so he moved there, living in a double-wide mobile home. When that job ended, he moved to Stafford, MO, then eventually moved back home with his parents in Clarksburg, where he drove feed trucks to chicken and turkey farms. Then he moved back to Springfield to work for Kraft in the underground facilities where he had an accident in a fall, hurting his shoulders, had a concussion and cracked his ribs. He never completely recovered good health, developing cancer which he battled for over a year.

In his free time, Randy liked playing golf and slow pitch softball.  He was an avid collector of Nascar memorabilia, and he collected football figurines.  Randy loved the time he took his son, Evan, to a Nascar Race where they created a special memory together.  Another favorite pastime he enjoyed was working jigsaw puzzles with his mom.

Randy was ordained a Deacon of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida in May 1995, and was given a certificate of appreciation for contribution to the youth ministry.

Randy became a member of Crossway Baptist Church in Springfield, where he met some very good friends who have helped him until the end of his earthly life.  During his membership, he taught Sunday School, was an usher and served the church in other ways.

Before his accident, while working at Springfield, Randy attended Ozark Technical College and was close to getting a degree in Business and Management before he was afflicted with cancer.

Surviving are a son, Evan Scott Moon, of Valrico, Florida; his parents, Leroy and Marietta Moon, of Clarksburg; a sister, Rosie Moon, of Stover; a brother, Arthur Raydean Moon, of California; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Iris Jean Moon.
