Ralph Leroy Gerlt, age 90, of Stover, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. He was born August 19, 1926, in Stover, a son of Jacob and Annie Irene Kreglinger Gerlt, who preceded him in death. He married Betty Enlow Tull and to this union three sons, Wayne, Johnny and Chris were born. He married Marion Reynolds and to this union one son, Joe was born. Betty and Marian preceded him in death. Ralph was an Army veteran serving his country during the Korean War. He moved to Parkville, where he had a side business trimming trees and collecting and selling scrap metal. Ralph retired from Allis Chalmers Combine Plant located in Independence after more than 20 years of employment. Following his retirement Ralph returned to Stover where he farmed and enjoyed being on the home place. He was an avid deer, coon and turkey hunter. Survivors include four sons, Gary “Wayne” Gerlt and wife Patty of Kansas City; Johnny Gerlt of Kansas City; Chris Gerlt and wife Annetta of Kansas City and Ralph Tull and wife Linda of Kansas City; one sister, Millie Vetsch and husband Jimmy of Minneapolis, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren, along with other relatives and many friends. Ralph was also preceded in death by one son, Joseph Gerlt; one daughter, Gail Tull Abbott; two brothers, Dwight and Gene Gerlt; one grandson, Chris Gerlt II and one great granddaughter, Hannah Gerlt. Funeral services will 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22 at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Rev. David Overman officiating. Interment, with military funeral honors, will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery on Highway 135 south of Stover. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
