Tipton

Paul David Hirst, 86, of Tipton, passed away Monday, June 8, 2026, surrounded by his family at Tipton Oak Manor.

He was born on January 10, 1940, in Jefferson City, Missouri, a son of Robert Vest, Sr. and Fern Lucille (McGill) Hirst. On June 1, 1963, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Gravois Mills, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Diana Nau.

Paul was known for his strong work ethic and spent his life in a variety of occupations. Over the years, he worked as a truck driver, construction contractor, certified concrete finisher, and parts manager in the agricultural industry. No matter the job, he approached it with dedication, skill, and pride.

A lifelong outdoorsman, Paul enjoyed hunting and fishing and cherished the time he spent in nature. He took great pride in being a cattleman and caring for his farm, where he found satisfaction in the simple rewards of hard work and stewardship of the land. Among his many accomplishments, he was especially proud to serve as a contractor during the construction of each of his three children's homes, leaving a lasting legacy through his craftsmanship and love for his family.

Paul's greatest joy was his family. He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and all they accomplished throughout their lives. Through his example, he instilled in them the values of hard work, integrity, perseverance, and a deep appreciation for life. His encouragement, wisdom, and unwavering support will remain with them always.

He also had a special affection for animals and enjoyed the simple pleasures of everyday life. Whether spending time on the farm, visiting with family and friends, or enjoying the outdoors, Paul found happiness in life's ordinary moments and taught others to do the same.
