Norman Joseph Claas, 69, of Tipton, died Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Tipton Oak Manor.
He was born July 25, 1953, in Boonville, son of Arthur P. and Betty P. (Ketterlin) Claas. After their deaths, Norman bought their home so that his family could continue to gather there as they had done for so long. His home was always open to family and friends, and that was especially meaningful to his nieces and nephews.
Norman had worked for the state agriculture department, managed Tipton Amoco, and then worked for a number of years at the Cooper County Hospital.
Norman was an avid supporter of Tipton sports and was a member of the Booster Club. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Mizzou Tigers fan. He enjoyed Frank Knipp’s card night, watching old tv shows, and fishing. He had a quick wit and was a walking encyclopedia.
Surviving are two siblings, Tom Claas (Janet) of Overland Park, KS, and Eileen Johansen (Dave) of Syracuse; eight nieces and nephews, John Claas, Peter Claas, Michael Claas, Dustin Johansen, Sara Johansen, Kevin Johansen, Lauren Andrews, and Andrew Claas; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews, and three great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Claas.
No visitation or services will be held. A private family burial will be held at a later date at St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Tipton Booster Club.
Cremation arrangements are in the care of Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Tipton.
