Norma Gene Jones Litton, age 92, of Cole Camp, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Cole Camp.
She was born June 6, 1926, on the family farm near Cole Camp, the only child of John B. and Effie Rowland Bohling. Norma Gene married Edward Lewis “Bud” Jones and to this union one daughter was born.
Norma Gene was a graduate of Cole Camp High School and earned her teaching degree from Central Missouri State in Warrensburg.
Norma Gene began her career as a Third grade teacher and later as an educator in the Special Education department for the school districts in Stover, Cole Camp, and LaMonte. She returned to the Cole Camp school district where she retired after 43 years in the public education system.
She had been a member of the Stover First Baptist Church.
When she wasn’t teaching, Norma Gene enjoyed spending time on the farm, enjoying the outdoors and serenity of being on the home place.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Gay and David Marriott of Versailles; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Michael Buckler of Cole Camp; Josia and Jeff Leipholtz of Columbia and Josh and Julie Marriott of Versailles and nine great grandchildren, Zach Buckler and fiancée Mollie Landers, Sam Buckler, Jacob Bucker and wife Montana, Nate Buckler, Truman, Rosie and Jane Leipholtz and Barton and Hattie Marriott.
Norma Gene was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Bud Jones and her second husband Ray Litton.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, December 13, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Pastor Lora Cunningham officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home in Stover.
