Norma Jean Bremer

May 6, 1937 — May 28, 2021

Norma Jean (Lemler) Bremer of Smithton, Missouri was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She lived a full and vibrant life rooted in love, family and her community. Norma peacefully passed away at her home May 28, 2021, at the age of 84.   Born May 6, 1937, in Longwood (Pettis County) Missouri to Lee and Agnes (Klein) Lemler. Norma grew up in the Florence area and attended school in Stover graduating in 1955. The following year, she married a handsome Florence boy, Robert “Bob” Bremer, on November 28, 1956. Bob worked highway construction and Norma moved with Bob wherever the job took him. Norma had enough of traveling with small kids after experiencing a tornado while living in a travel-trailer in Wichita Kansas. They built a home in Smithton Missouri where they raised their 5 children. Norma ran a mail route for several years and loved to embroidery. She was a significant influence on the Smithton Town and Country Fair by serving on the Fair Board from 1974-2016, with 18 of those years as Fair Board President. She also served as Secretary for the Smithton Fire Department.   Norma loved trips to Branson and planning yearly vacations with her children and grandchildren. Bob and Norma also enjoyed pulling their travel-trailer to Texas to meet up with many friends to camp for the winter. Being around family and her concern that everyone had enough to eat made her happy.   Norma was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law Bonnie Lemler and brother-in-law Lloyd Bremer.   She is survived by her husband of 65 years Bob Bremer, her children Terry (Glenda) Bremer of Wentzville, Deb Jenson (John) of Leawood KS, Lisa Hughes (David) of Adrian, Kevin Bremer (Tamara) of Kansas City, and Bill Bremer (Angela) of Clinton MO. Norma was also an amazing and deeply loved grandmother to 10 grandchildren: Tricia (Chad) Johnston, Jace Hughes, Cassandra Bremer, Emily Tarwater (Dillon), Kyle Bremer (Evan), Megan Burns (Caleb), Alex Jenson, Ryan Bremer, Madelyn Bremer and Brant Bremer. She energetically told people often she was a GREAT-Grandmother to Gavin and Makynlee Johnston and Isla Gillison. Also surviving are two brothers Donnie Lemler and Bobby Lemler (Beverly) along with two brothers-in-law Keith Bremer and Darrell Bremer. Numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends will also miss her greatly.   Her grandsons Jace Hughes, Kyle Bremer, Alex Jenson, Ryan Bremer, Brant Bremer and Dillon Tarwater will, with honor, serve as her casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Caleb Burns and Chad Johnston.   The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 1 at the St. John United Church of Christ in Florence. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Bro. Dan Page officiating. Burial will be in the St. John UCC Cemetery in Florence.   The family wishes to thank Dr. Wuellner and the staff at the Dialysis Clinic.   In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to St. Johns United Church of Christ Cemetery Fund in Florence MO or the DCI Dialysis Clinic in Sedalia MO.
