Nona Mae Morgan Todd, age 98, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020, at The Neighborhoods at Tiger Place. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Otterville from 1:30 to 2:30 on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, with services to follow at 2:30. Burial will be at the Mt. Nebo Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Nona was born October 12, 1922, in Paragould, Arkansas, to Eula Lee Gragg Morgan and Burrell Alfred Morgan. She graduated in 1940 from Paragould High School with a diploma in piano and attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. On August 26, 1944, she was married to Lt. JG Jack Branham Todd of Pilot Grove, Missouri, at the First Baptist Church, Cocoa, Florida, by the Reverend James A. Sawyer. Nona was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; daughter Cathy Susan Todd in 1964; son Jack Branham Todd, Jr. in 2007; grandson Adam Joseph Garb in 2013; great-grandchild Jett Nichols in 2001; and a great-great-grandchild. Her sister, Elizabeth Morgan Ebersole, and brother, Harold Gragg Morgan, also preceded her in death.
Nona retired from Civil Service in 1983 after 23 years of service, primarily at Whiteman Air Force Base. An excellent cook and seamstress, Nona’s greatest pleasure was in loving and providing for her family. Nona also taught a Sunday School class for several years and served as church organist for 30 years until she moved to Columbia in 2003.
Nona is survived by her son James F. Todd of Ft. Worth, Texas; daughter Peggy Nichols (Ken) of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas; and daughter Candace Garb (Jim) of Columbia, Missouri. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; Susan Todd, Michael Todd (Nicole), John Mark Todd, Christopher Nichols (Teresa), Jay Nichols (Elizabeth), Carrie Worn (David), Amy Riley (Jeff), Edwin Garb, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, her sister-in-law, Martha Morgan of Paragould, Arkansas, three nieces, and two nephews.
Arrangements are in the care of Meisenheimer Funeral Home, Otterville.
