Nellie Marie Young

Nellie Marie Young, 98 of Pilot Grove, Missouri passed away peacefully at Boone Hospital Center, surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 1, 2018.

Born in Blackwater, Missouri on September 26, 1919, Nellie was the daughter of John and Nellie Smith Davis. She grew up in Blackwater and
after graduating from Pilot Grove High School, Nellie went to work at the airplane factory in Kansas City, Missouri.

On August 26, 1947 Nellie married Kenneth Joseph Young at Clear Creek Catholic Church by Father Leo Gales. They were marred for 70 years.

Nellie spent most of her married life as a homemaker and also volunteered at Katy Manor Nursing Home for many years. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; a brother; her son David Young and daughter Diane Kempf.

Surviving Nellie are her husband Kenneth of the home; daughters Glenda Young of Columbia, Missouri and Linda Vollrath and her husband Mark of Pilot Grove, Missouri; son-in-law Vernon Kempf of Pilot Grove, Missouri; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M.. Monday, March 5, 2018 at St. John's Catholic Church in Clear Creek with burial immediately following at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, March 4, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove, Missouri with rosary recited at 2:30 prior to visitation.
