Naomi Ruth Barbour Richardson

August 21, 1915 — February 7, 2008

Naomi Ruth "Grannie" Barbour Richardson, age 92, formerly of Stover, died Thursday, February 7, 2008, at St. Marys Health Center in Jefferson City.
She was born August 21, 1915, in Zora, in Benton County, a daughter of Fred and Lula Taylor Hughes, both deceased. She married Galen Barbour on February 14, 1941, in Liberty and he preceded her in death January 11, 1981. She later married James Richardson and he also preceded her in death.
While living in the Kansas City area, she was employed with Folger's, Montgomery Wards and Woolworths at the Blue Ridge Mall. She retired from the Cree-Mee in Stover, where she was a cook.
She enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, drinking coffee and visiting with friends. However, her greatest enjoyment came from being able to spend time with her family. For the past few years she resided at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles, where she made many friends.
Survivors include one daughter, Polly Castagno and husband Nick of Liberty; a daughter-in-law, Helen Barbour of Stover; six grandchildren, Russ Barbour and wife Sharon, Pat Meyer and husband Armin, Pam Coontz, Marsha Garrett and companion Joe Rodriguez, Debbie Salyer and Bill Iiams, fourteen great grandchildren, nineteen great-great grandchildren, four nieces, ten nephews and a host of other family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Claude Barbour, four brothers, Melvin, Harold, Earnest and Earl Hughes, two sisters, Viola Heimsoth and Evelyn Kendrick and a grandson-in-law, Jack Coontz.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 12, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Travis Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Monday, February 11, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
