Muriel Ann Brewer

Muriel Ann Schafersman Brewer, age 79, of Pilot Grove, passed away January 6, 2017 at Ashley Manor in Boonville.

The youngest of seven children, Muriel was born March 22, 1937 to Herbert and Alma (Sieckman) Schafersman in Overton, Missouri.

On August 20, 1955, Muriel married Carlos Franklin Brewer. They lived in Chicago, Illinois for several years until moving to Pilot Grove in 1963 and making their home in Pilot Grove where they have spent the remainder of their 61 years together. They were blessed with one daughter, Kelley, who in turn has blessed them with a son-in-law Steve and a grandson Ben.

Muriel spent the majority of her life making a home for her husband and daughter. She was very creative and kept busy with many hobbies. She made oak baskets for many years as well as knitting, crocheting, needlepointing and quilting. She taught knitting and crafts to 4-H members in the area. Muriel was a member of the Cooper County Historic Society and also aided the Community Betterment of Pilot Grove in the earlier years. She enjoyed collecting antiques, as well as genealogy and local history . She and Carlos loved to travel and spend time outdoors.

Surviving Muriel is her husband Carlos of the home; daughter Kelley Sue Edwards and her husband Steve of Lees Summit, Missouri; grandson Benjamin Edwards; sister Delka Cooper of Lenexa, Kansas and a number of nieces and nephews.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Alma (Sieckman) Schafersman; brothers Ora, Roy and Joe Schafersman; sisters Alvena Schafersman and Maxine Langlotz.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Wesley Chapel, Pilot Grove, Missouri. Memorials to Cooper County Historical Society requested and appreciated.
