Mollie C. Shadwick

Mollie Shadwick, age 91, of Stover, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, with her family by her side.
Mollie was born April 30, 1918, in Van Buren, Missouri to Andy and Margaret Brittanna Campbell. She was one of seven children.
She was joined in marriage to Richard L. Shadwick on June 16, 1946 in Warrensburg. They were married for 41 years until Richards passing on June 16, 1987.
They moved to Stover from Warrensburg in 1977, where she resided with her family until her passing.
Mollie was an accomplished Artist who touched many lives with her artistic talents. She taught portrait and china painting for many years and did commissioned oil portraits. In 1970 she helped to found the Mid Missouri Artists Inc., and in 1978 she started the Palm Sunday Fine Arts Show that continues today in Versailles. She was the Fine Arts Director for the Missouri State Fair for many years.
She has been a long time member of the United Methodist Church of Stover, where she contributed her talents to making decorative cloth banners that the congregation still uses today for special occasions. She helped to create the wooden inlayed Altar and some of the stained-glass doors that are used in the church today.
Mollie is survived by her children and their spouses, Britt and Carol Shadwick of Stover; , Robert C. and Lesia Shadwick of St. Joseph and Charlotte and Oscar McClellen of Stover; a sister, Lottie Poisal of Wasilla, Alaska; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mollie touched many lives and will be missed by her family and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Stover United Methodist Church with Rev. Diane Cutler officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. at the church. Graveside service will be at the Sunset Cemetery in Warrensburg at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Stover United Methodist Church.
