Minnie Mae Kanenbley

January 20, 1920 — August 2, 2008

Minnie M. Kanenbley, age 88, of Florence, died Saturday, August 2, 2008, at St. Marys Health Center in Jefferson City.
She was born January 20, 1920, at Pyrmont, north of Stover, a daughter of Ernest and Anna Klein Rasa. On June 26, 1943, in Jefferson City, Minnie was united in marriage to August S. Kanenbley, August preceded her in death on January 17, 2000.
Minnie and August co-owned and operated Kanenbley's Grocery and Kanenbley's Feed Store in Florence for more than 30 years.
She was a faithful, active member of the St. John United Church of Christ in Florence, serving on various committees and especially enjoying the church quilting group, the Quilting Grannies.
Minnie also served as a member of the Morgan County Republican Committee for many years.
She truly enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the time she could spend working in her garden.
Minnie is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Rita Kanenbley of Syracuse; one daughter, Shirley Knipp of Tipton; one brother, Orva Rasa of Mora; one sister, Alma Rehmer Fischer of Florence; six grandchildren, Cindy Kanenbley of Kansas City; Lynn Jensen and husband Casey of Kansas City; Mark Kanenbley of Pleasant Hill; Christian Knipp and wife Kim of Wichita, Kansas; Sarah Schlotzhauer and husband Justin of Tipton and Jared Knipp and wife Stephanie of Pleasant Hill, four great grandchildren, Hannah Jensen, Ava and Dane Schlotzhauer and Ellie Knipp, also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Gary Knipp and one sister, Lois Oehrke.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 5, at St. John United Church of Christ in Florence with Rev. Mike Miller officiating. Interment will be in the St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery with her grandsons serving as casketbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, August 4, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
