Mildred Naomi Martens, age 88, of Stover, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 16, 2025.
She was born on October 19, 1936, in Versailles, Missouri, to Nelson and Freda (Sumner) Wilson.
On July 3, 1957, Mildred was united in marriage to Kenneth Martens, who preceded her in death on October 5, 2015.
Mildred had a deep love for children, which led her to a fulfilling career providing childcare in her home. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, cherishing every moment with them. She also enjoyed garage sales and the simple pleasures they brought.
A woman of faith, Mildred was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Versailles, where she was a longtime member. Her confirmation verse was, "There hath not failed one word of all His good promise" 1 Kings 8:56. Later in life, she began attending St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stover.
Left to carry on her legacy is her daughter, Kenda Fergerson and husband Robert of Stover; five grandchildren, Sean and Brystol Fergerson of Stover, Tara (JJ) Fergerson, Tyler (Alice) Fergerson, and Natalie (Justin) Asher all of Eldon; eight great grandchildren, Paxton, Gunner, River, Jackson, Karson, Aiden, Olivia, and Emmie; one sister, Thelma Younce of Independence, a niece Carmella Cramer of Independence; along with friends.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2025, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Allen Braun officiating. Burial will be in the Versailles Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the family to help with expenses.
