Mildred E. Geary Maddux

Mildred Ellen Duffer Geary Maddux, age 83, of Stover, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2007, at the University Hospital in Columbia.

She was born January 4, 1924, in Proctor, a daughter of the late Floyd W. and Lillie Marriott Duffer. On April 13, 1946, she was married to Norman L. Geary, who preceded her in death July 3, 1961. On December 18, 1965, she was married to Roy M. Maddux, who preceded her in death June 28, 1988.

She lived in Missouri most of her life, a short time at Nebo, Illinois and winters in Florida.

Mildred was a 1942 graduate of Stover High School. During World War II she worked in defense plants in Versailles and Lake City. She was a substitute mail carrier and postal clerk in Stover.

Mildred was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stover, a real estate salesperson, a member of the Ozark Board of Realtors, a member of the Stover Chamber of Commerce, and a member of National Rural Letter Carriers Association.

She is survived by one daughter, Karen L. Bellis of Stover; one son, William N. Geary and his wife Kimberly of Warsaw; five grandsons, Alan Bellis and his wife Lynette of Stover; Jared Bellis and his wife Teather of Stover; Adam Geary and his wife Ashley of Springfield; Andrew Geary and his wife Delynne of Springfield and Aaron Geary of Springfield; two step granddaughters, Megan Alley and Lily Alley, both of Springfield; four great grandchildren, Wade Bellis, Tanna Bellis, Jenna Bellis and Kyp Bellis all of Stover; two step-sons, Don Maddux and his wife Rhonda of Shawnee Mission, Kansas and David Maddux and his wife Wilma of Riceville, Tennessee and a sister, Lena Mae Eldridge of Independence.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Foster, a brother, Floyd Duffer and a son-in-law, Jim Bellis.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, August 6, at the Stover United Methodist Church with Rev. Sam Hinkle and Pastor Diane Cutler officiating. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. - 10:15 A.M. at the Stover United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital in St. Louis or the Stover United Methodist Church General Fund.
