Merle E. Kerr

Merle E. Kerr, age 86, of Russellville passed away Thursday, February 7, 2008, at the Jefferson City Manor Care Center in Jefferson City.
He was born January 3, 1922, in Brookland, Arkansas a son of Charlie and Adda Good Kerr. Merle married Elsie Mae Patterson on September 27, 1941, in Piggott, Arkansas, and she preceded him in death April 30, 2007.
Merle was a Navy veteran, serving his country during World War II.
He worked for the International Shoe Company in Jefferson City. He retired from the Algoa Correctional Facility in Jefferson City after working for several years as a prison guard.
He was a faithful member of the Business 54 Church of Christ in Eldon. He enjoyed being on his farm near Russellville, where he could garden and work in his yard.
Survivors include seven children, Charles Wayne Kerr and wife Pat of Jefferson City; Betty Joyce Bond and husband Wendell of Dothan, Alabama; Bobby Gene Kerr of Eldon; Delbert Lee Kerr and wife Rita of Russellville; Shirley Ann Crawford of Rolla; Jerry Dean Kerr and wife Joann of Russellville and Kenneth A. Kerr and wife Dottie of Russellville; one brother, Curtis Kerr of Camdenton; three sisters, Lona McBride of Ohio; Ila Cole of Waynesboro, Tennessee and Lila Shipe of Kalamazoo, Michigan; twenty grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Brenda Sue Shehorn, five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 11, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville with Dan Wissinger officiating. Burial, with military funeral honors, will be in Enloe Cemetery west of Russellville.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. Sunday, February 10, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville. Memorial contributions are suggested to Community Hospices of America.
