Mayme Evelyn Cline, age 93 of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday evening, December 21, 2019, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
She was born March 6, 1926, in Stover, Missouri, a daughter of John Dudley and Pearl V. Bishop Osborn.
On August 14, 1948, in Versailles, Mayme was united in marriage to Aubrey Daniel Cline, who preceded her in death September 22, 2005.
Mayme was raised in the Stover and Versailles area and graduated from Versailles High School in 1944. After her marriage, she worked as a bank teller for Central Trust Bank and helped on her husband’s family farm. After the birth of her first child in 1959, Mayme remained in the home to care for her children. She was active in their school activities, including serving as a room mother and Girl Scout leader. She returned to work part time at Young Fashions for a number of years. She later cared for her grandchildren while they were infants and toddlers. Mayme enjoyed shopping, watching westerns and was an avid Cardinals Baseball fan.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen Cline Burgess of Jefferson City; one sister, Lela Peterson of Windsor, California; two grandchildren, Quentin Burgess and Jessica Rombach (John), one great grandson, Michael Rombach and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mayme was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Cline, three brothers, Stanley (Maryanne) Osborn, J.D. (Jean) Osborn, Fred (Nadine) Osborn and four sisters, Lavern Rigsby, Georgina (Hazen) Hiller, Ona Beck, and Barbara Jean Osborn.
Graveside services will be Friday, December 27, at 11:00 am in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery with Reverend Doyle Sager officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to The Versailles City Cemetery.
