Maudie Lee May Cornett

June 14, 1918 — February 5, 2008

Maudie Lee May Cornett, age 89, of Stover, passed away Tuesday night, February 5, 2008, at her home.
She was born June 14, 1918, in Versailles, a daughter of Oliver and Alice Howard Meeks. On March 15, 1941, in Versailles, Maudie was united in marriage to Claude Cornett who survives at their home.
Maudie worked at Primo Pants Factory in Versailles and retired from Smithson's Quilting Factory in Stover. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and VFW in Sedalia, where she and Claude danced almost every weekend until her health began to fail her. She was a member of the Stover First Baptist Church.
She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to tell people how smart her grandkids were, and how much they all meant to her. Maudie never complained and kept her sense of humor.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Pat Cornett of Independence; one daughter, Brenda Cornett Cook
and husband John of Stover; five grandchildren, Donette Chrisman, Pam Cornett, Clay Cornett, Punkie Stevenson and Crystal Cornett, nine great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, also other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Donald and Denny Cornett, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 9, at the Stover First Baptist Church with Rev. Dinzel Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Stover Cemetery with Ronnie Richardson, Jerry Hibdon, John Hibdon, Joe Hibdon, Jimmy Hibdon and Clint Hibdon serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, February 8, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
